如何考到DSE英文 5**? (二)

今次會談如何「溫習」英文。

很多人以為溫習英文等於

1)背字典

2)看英文電影

3)聽英文歌

4)上補習名師的課堂 (然後回家是不用溫習的)

這些方法有一定的成效,但如果不明瞭考評局的要求, 做以上四點是無法令人有明顯進步的。

回應以上四個方法

1)背字典: 這會你的豐富詞彙量, 但如果不當使用在作文中,或不知道考評局究竟喜歡那一些生字,這會令你走了很多冤枉路。

2)看英文電影+聽英文歌:我認為這對培養學習英文的興趣很有幫助,亦能訓練聆聽及改善口語能力。但是如果只靠看電影,你將只能學到口語英文,難以掌握書寫的技巧。

3)上補習名師的課堂:有很多人以為只靠補習,便能取得好成績——這樣的想法我是不反對的,但要有兩個條件:第一,補習名師教授的內容跟考評局的要求相符。但是現實是,大部份名師教授的生字及句式矯扭造作,強行堆砌空洞無物的文字,只令人留下反面的印象。第二,學生需要用功溫書。我所說的時間不是一天一到兩小時,這是嚴重不足夠的。要語文扎根穩固,每天兩到三小時亦不算多。

這裏開始,我會開始從聽、說、讀、寫,這四個範疇探討一個文憑試考生應該如何溫習英文。

The human desire to look attractive is universal and because of this, cosmetic surgery is now a multi-million dollar industry. Write a letter to the editor of the Hong Kong Express about the obsession with physical beauty.

In addition, we, as individuals, have to get rid of our obsession with physical beauty and emphasize the virtues of morality and love. If I have to give a metaphor, I would like to describe physical beauty as banknotes and inner beauty as gold. Banknotes may give an illusion that they are precious and valuable but in fact, they are nothing but papers that do not have intrinsic values. In contrast, gold may be misunderstood to have lower values than a house of banknotes but gold is the only thing that can be permanently in good shape. In the same vein, undergoing plastic surgery is tantamount to exchanging our face for banknotes, which are transient and fade with the passage of time. Only through breaking away from our obsession with physical appearance can we pursue everlasting beauty. By upholding the principles of morality and compassion and lending a helping hand to our loved ones and people at the lowest rung of our society, we can strike gold and become beautiful forever.
