Born in a restless city called Hong Kong, I am a local English teacher with more than 6 years of teaching experience in a secondary school. To be honest, I always flunked English tests and examinations in primary school. But fortunately, several dedicated secondary English teachers ignited my passion for sharpening English proficiency and being an education practitioner. With years of hard work, I finally got a 5** in the HKDSE English examination, furthering my studies at HKU.
Let’s face the reality — who doesn’t want a 5*/5** in English, which means a trump card for entering and studying any courses in tertiary institutions? Therefore, I have striven to help my students to be winners in this game. Unlike most “old seafood” (老海鮮; laid-back teachers) who don’t teach at all and simply let students find their own lifebuoys, I believe that every pupil can be “saved” through systematic training and teaching. That’s why in the future, I will share with you how to make English lessons successful in terms of equipping students with essential examination skills. Most importantly, my focus will be placed on advanced pedagogies, such as differentiation tactics for catering to the needs of different types of students in a class.
If you are a school teacher, you must agree that our teaching profession means something more than just teaching — it is all about developing rapport with colleagues, students, and parents. It would also be, therefore, be helpful to share with you my tips on surviving in this unique habitat, the so-called “miniature of society”.
